May 11 – Johann Christian Hinrichs

Today is not only mother’s day. It is also the day Spencer Perceval, British Prime Minister gets shot by John Bellingham on his way to the Palace of Westminster in 1812. It is the only “successful” assassination of a British Prime Minister til this day.

And six years later, on May 11, 1818 Karl XIV. Johann gets crowned King of Sweden in Stockholm. The former Marshal of France founds the House of Bernadotte in Sweden.

And further 58 years ahead in time, on May 11, 1876 Johann Christian HINRICHS is born in Warnow, Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Germany as an illegitimate child of Maria Anna HINRICHS. His mother’s name is also given as Katharina Sofia or Katharina Sophie HINRICHS in other records for Johann Christian.

His grandfather Johann HINRICHS registered his birth on the same day.

On November 7, 1902 Johann Christian married Auguste Dorothea Wilhelmine Karoline HENNINGS, a brick layer’s daughter from Upahl, Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Germany.

On this wedding certificate you see that the groom’s mother’s first names are given with Katharina Sophie. And on the right side of the page you can see a remark made from the registar concerning Johann Christian’s death.

He died on December 17, 1940 in Upahl, following a stroke.
