March 10 – Maria Dorothea Elisabeth Evert

Happy Birthday Mom!!

And not to forget, it is also my cousin’s birthday today.

Tomás de Berlanga, fourth bishop of Panamá was on his way to Peru when is ship strayed from the course. So it was actually a coincidence that he discovered the Galápagos islands on March 10, 1535.

March 10, 1801 is the day of he first census in Great Britain.

Let me introduce you to the sister-in-law of my 3rd great grand uncle.

Maria Dorothea Elisabeth EVERT was born on March 10, 1844 in Upahl, Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Germany. She was the oldest of six children of Johann Joachim EVERT and his wife Wilhelmina Margaretha Elisabeth née WARNKE.

Maria received her christening in Diedrichshagen on March 13, 1844.

In the same church she married Joachim Heinrich HENNINGS, a bricklayer from Upahl on February 2, 1866.

The couple had six children being born between 1866 and 1882. All in Upahl where I found the family in the cenuses of 1867 and 1900.

Maria died on June 18, 1905 in Upahl and got laid to rest on the church cemetary of Diedrichshagen on June 22, 1905.
