March 9 – Warnke & Camin wedding

With the death of his father Wilhelm I. on March 9, 1888 his son becomes the new Emperor Friedrich III. of the German Empire. His regency lasts only 99 days til his death of cancer of the throat.

The Federal Convention of the German Federation decides on March 8, 1848 (in the context of the March Revolution) that Black-Red-Gold should be the National Colours. It is the first time this combination reaches the status of a National Symbol – which it is til today.

And on my family tree I say “Happy Anniversary” to my first cousin 3x removed Liesbeth Maria Dorothea  WARNKE (a.k.a. Liesbeth Marie Doris Auguste WARNKE).

She celebrated her wedding with the mechanical engineer from Gischow, Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Germany Friedrich Wilhelm Christian CAMIN on March 9, 1917, in the midth of World War I in Diedrichshagen, Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Germany.

Liesbeth was born on May 10, 1891 in Kastahn, Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Germany as third of four children into the marriage of Gottlieb Joachim August WARNKE and his wife Ida Maria Katharine Dorothe née KOOP. Liesbeth was actually the only daughter surrounded by three brothers.

Friedrich was born in Gischow on April 27, 1882 into the marriage of Friedrich Christian Johann CAMIN and his wife Katharina Maria Christine née BAUER.

Following their wedding Liesbeth moved with Friedrich to Gischow.  Their first (and so far only known) son is born there in April 1917, just one month after the wedding. I guess they received the official wedding approval by the authorities just in time.
