February 14 – Bertha Emma Marie Elisabeth Kruse

Several hundred Jews have been burnt to death publicly during the Strassbourg massacre (a.k.a. Valentine’s Day massacre) as part as the Black Death persecutions on February 14, 1349. They had been accused of poisining the public drinking water fountains.

On February 14, 1972 The Star of Sierra Leone, the third biggest diamond of the world gets discovered in Sierra Leone.

On my family tree we meet the sister-in-law of my first cousin 3x removed .

Bertha Emma Marie Elisabeth KRUSE died on this day in 1942 in Grevesmühlen, Mecklenburg, Germany.

She was born in Upahl, Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Germany on November 17, 1885 as the second of three children into the marriage of the farmer Johann Joachim Heinrich KRUSE and his wife Rudolfine Wilhelmine Joachime née METELMANN.

She received her christening on November 22, 1885 in Diedrichshagen, Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Germany. In the same church she celebrated her lutheran confirmation on April 8, 1900.

 

 

 

 

The 1900 census shows her living in Upahl, working as a domestic help.

On June 5, 1913 she married Hugo Karl Heinrich Wilhelm WARNKE in the beautiful church above.

So far I didn’t finy any children born into this marriage.
