Due to alleged depressions King Philipp V. of Spain resigns on January 14, 1724 in favour of his son Ludwig I.
On January 14, 1943 the British prime Minister Winston Churchhill and US-president Franklin D. Roosevelt met in Casablanca, Morrocco (a French protectorate at that time) to discuss the further European strategy for the next phase of World War II. Those meetings which lasted til January 24, 1943 are better known as “Casablanca conference“.
We turn to another member of the ULMER branch of my family tree.
We meet Johann Friedrich ULMER, the husband of my first cousin thrice removed Emma Christina Elisabeth SCHMIDT from Tüschenbek.
Johann was born on January 14, 1876 in Vilsen, Lower Saxony, Germany. Today it belongs to Bruchhausen-Vilsen, in the county Diepholz, Lower Saxony, Germany (if you want to look it up).
I have received this document from a distant cousin of this Ulmer branch. It looks like a census record, but I have no idea from when and where. Unfortunately, the quality is really bad, I cannot increase the size without the picture getting totally blurry.
It states him and his wife Emma, the names of the children, their adress, the last residence and some registrar was nice enough again to mark the date of death for Johann.
I might contact the city archive for Bremen, Germany to ask if it is one of their forms, since the children have been born and Johann died there.
But going chronologically – Johan and Emma married on May 6, 1911 already in Bremen. I have no idea why the two moved to Bremen and if they did independently from each other or if they already knew each other before.
Between 1913 and 1922 Emma gave birth to four children.
- Adele Marie ULMER, * January 27, 1913
- Friedrich Ludwig Heinrich ULMER, * September 17, 1916 (he is the one emigrating with his family to Australia – see here)
- Anneliese Karoline ULMER, * April 23, 1920
- Hans Wilhelm ULMER, * June 1, 1922
And then I have a huge gap of over 40 years since the next information I have on Johann is the day of his death: August 4, 1969 in Bremen, Germany.
Did I hear “cousin bait” anyone? ;)
